Stephanie Crandall is running
Former City Council At-Large candidate emailed precinct chairs this afternoon
Just after 3PM today, City of Fort Wayne director of intergovernmental affairs Stephanie Crandall emailed the Democratic Party precinct chairs to let them know she will be a candidate to replace her former boss, the late Mayor Tom Henry.
“More than a decade ago, I met with Mayor Henry to learn about his plans to transform Fort Wayne into a destination city—where families and retirees, businesses and entrepreneurs, immigrants and new graduates could find a community of support. Right away, I knew I wanted to help make those plans become a reality. This is what I have been working on as part of Mayor Henry’s team and what I will continue to do as the next Mayor of Fort Wayne.”
She went on to list the various boards and commissions she’s served on, as well as her role in starting the Women’s Fund.
“Being the top fundraiser among non-mayoral candidates who ran city-wide, I know what it will take to be successful in 2027 to retain this position,” Crandall wrote.
According to public filings, her campaign raised $109,523 during her 2023 campaign for City Council At-Large.
She concluded her message with a pledge to work towards a more empathetic, understanding city.
“My hope for every person, and especially every child, in Fort Wayne is that they feel supported, know they are valued, and get opportunities like I’ve had to pursue their passions as they fulfill their calling. This is what will make Fort Wayne an even greater city of which we can be proud. It’s what Mayor Henry was committed to and what I commit to continuing.”
