Austin Knox is running for mayor
Wayne Township Trustee will be a candidate in caucus to replace Tom Henry
Austin Knox, the current Wayne Township Trustee, will be a candidate for mayor in the Democratic Party’s upcoming caucus. He will officially announce his candidacy tomorrow morning at an event in downtown Fort Wayne.
Knox is no stranger to the caucus process. That’s how he became Wayne Township Trustee, winning the caucus to replace Rick Stevenson in January of 2020 after Stevenson decided to retire midway through his term. Knox served as Stevenson’s chief deputy prior to that point.
Two years later, Knox won a primary race against Porsche Williams in 2022 to keep his seat. He was unopposed in the general election.
Wayne Township makes up approximately a third of the city of Fort Wayne. In his role, Knox manages a staff of over 30 employees and an annual budget of $5 million.
Knox was asked by the Henry for Mayor campaign to introduce Cindy Henry – who introduced her husband – at Tom Henry’s re-election announcement in the fall of 2022.
He is a graduate of Concordia Lutheran High School (2010) and what was then IPFW (2015).
